The Professor Alborzi Clinical Microbiology Research Center is the national Center of Excellence in Clinical Microbiology in Iran. Its faculty members and collaborators, possessing outstanding and distinctive capabilities in basic–applied research, education, and the provision of unique specialized laboratory services, are actively engaged in the field of clinical microbiology and related disciplines.
The most important characteristic of this Center of Excellence is conducting research and producing knowledge with an approach focused on addressing public health needs, the educational and research needs of students and graduates, and the consultative needs of policymakers in areas related to infectious diseases at national, regional, and international levels. These activities are carried out through the innovation of the center’s members, the application of up-to-date technologies, and collaboration with other researchers, centers, and relevant organizations.
As the “National Center of Excellence in Clinical Microbiology in Iran,” the Professor Alborzi Clinical Microbiology Research Center envisions that by 2016 it will play a reference, leadership, and advisory role in the country in the fields of research, education, and the provision of advanced diagnostic laboratory services in clinical microbiology.
The scientific outputs, foresight, and innovations of the center in clinical microbiology will lead to establishing Iran’s distinguished regional position in this field. By attracting elites and engaging other relevant centers and organizations, the center will take effective steps toward improving the health of Iranian citizens.

The five core strategies of the Professor Alborzi Clinical Microbiology Research Center to achieve its mission and vision are as follows:
Expansion of research-oriented education in clinical microbiology
Quantitative and qualitative development of research projects aimed at knowledge and technology production in clinical microbiology and the promotion of community health
Enhancement of specialized diagnostic services in clinical microbiology, with an emphasis on up-to-date technologies to meet patients’ diagnostic needs and increase the center’s revenue
